It’s that time of year again – time to roll out The Root 100, our list of the year’s most influential Black Americans, ages 24 to 74.
Now in its 14th year, The Root 100 celebrates the activists, influencers and thought leaders who have significantly impacted the culture and forced us to sit up and take notice this year. We take this list seriously, which is why we consider hundreds of candidates from fields like entertainment, business, sports and STEM. And while there will likely be lots of celebrity names you already know, you may be surprised to learn that this year’s list includes more influencers and politicians than ever. We invite you to learn more about some of the honorees you may be less familiar with. If you don’t know them now, you will.
We’ll honor these extraordinary changemakers on December 5 at our The Root 100 event at the legendary Apollo Theater featuring special guest – this year’s Voice and Vision honoree Jon Batiste. Comedian Roy Wood Jr. will host the star-studded event with a must-see red carpet.
