On July 24, Bronny collapsed on the court during an on-campus workout. A congenital heart defect was identified as the probable reason for his cardiac arrest. He was treated by medical professionals and admitted to the ICU.

A James family spokesperson confirmed the incident and thanked hospital workers for support. “He is now in stable condition and no longer in ICU,” the statement read.
