In news that can only be described as indicative of the world coming to an end, hell freezing over, and pigs flying simultaneously, Snoop Dogg is giving up smoking.

Yes, you read that right. Snoop “Pass Me the Blunt Forever” Dogg has decided to give up smoking. The shocking news came down from Snoop himself, via an Instagram and X/Twitter post, with the simple caption: “I’m giving up smoke.”

“After much consideration & conversation with my family, I’ve decided to give up smoke. Please respect my privacy at this time,” the post read.

Given Snoop’s longtime affinity towards weed, weed smoking, and anything related, this news naturally comes as a surprise to many. And while I’m usually not one to speculate, this announcement could mean one of two things: The first being that while he said he’s giving up “smoking,” that may not mean he’s done with weed as a whole—he just might be deciding to enjoy it through a different medium. We all know that Snoop has 50-leven hundred businesses, maybe his next endeavor has to deal with weed edibles and the like and he’s decided it’s better for him to ingest the natural herb in that way versus how he’s been used to.

The second thing this announcement could mean is less positive in that it could signal some health problems. Seeing Snoop give up something that his brand has been attached to for years and years is as big a choice as it is deep. And seeing him add “please respect my privacy” at the end doesn’t do enough to instill confidence that he isn’t just pulling our leg with this.

Whatever his reason, health, wealth or otherwise, let’s pray his decision is ultimately for his betterment.
