Here’s another example of a Black person being harassed, or assaulted for simply doing nothing. In some cases, they could just be doing their job, in others, they could just be viewing a piece of land. It doesn’t matter, some racists just don’t care.

The latest example of this occurred on a random summer day in July 2022, when 56-year-old Anthony Mangiapane, a white man, was at his storefront in Warren, Mich. Everything was fine, until a Black man committed the egregious crime of walking on the sidewalk near his business, according to FOX 2 Detroit.

Instead of ignoring him, Mangiapane grabbed his rifle, went to the doorway, yelled, “Nigger, you better get moving!” and fired three shots at the Black man. Fortunately, the Black man was not hit with any shots and was able to call local authorities.

Mangiapane initially refused to leave his storefront when police arrived, like a child who knew they had done something wrong. But also like a child, he later surrendered.

When police investigated his store, they found a myriad of items, which made it clear that he was a white supremacist. Police found Nazi memorabilia, an M203 grenade shell, pistols, shotguns, AR-15-style rifles, high-capacity magazines, a rifle with a green scope, and a German Luger pistol, according to FOX 2 Detroit.

The rifle is the weapon he used to shoot at the Black victim.

Mangiapane yelling a racial slur and owning racist memorabilia made it easy for a jury to convict him of a hate crime, which is normally a tough thing to do considering it’s almost impossible to truly tell what a person is feeling in their heart.

Last week, Mangiapane was convicted on multiple charges, including assault with a deadly weapon, felony firearm, and ethnic intimidation after a short three-day trial. He faces up to eight years in prison, according to FOX 2 Detroit.

He’ll have to wait until the new year to await his sentencing.
